“I worked in my studio for a while. Once I got into my painting, something took over, something I couldn’t ever explain. I’d paint, then I’d step away, not really knowing how the brush strokes managed to capture the spirit of the leaves, or how the colors blended to make clouds and sky. I really enjoyed bringing the fields and woods to life, carefully overlaying the tones to make depth, copying the scene and yet creating something completely new. I forgot about Amelia Lever and Nathan Fenton, po...or little Tori trapped in her house, and the menacing hulk that was Bert Finchner. I finally went to bed around two. I woke to the sweet smells of cinnamon toast and lay in bed a few more minutes, thinking how lucky I was to have a husband who enjoyed making breakfast. But this same husband needs a job, I reminded myself. This same husband needs to pay his debts, and I wasn’t sure how he could do that.
